Summer Angel LMS Training Series
Monday, June 22, 12:00 to 2:00 PM, TLC L3231C
Part 1 of a 4 - Part Summer Angel Training Series
Facilitators Tom Braziunas, Carol Howe, Coryl Celene-Martel & Chris Sanders
This hands-on learning lab will provide an overview of the teaching-support features in the Angel learning management system . Included will be the many design and navigation options for forming a virtual classroom or supplementing a campus class. We will share examples of effective classroom instruction using ANGEL and also share pedagogical resources and practical guides for instructors and students. Participants will learn how to incorporate subject matter, lessons and assignment “drop boxes” into the ANGEL learning environment.
Tuesday, June 23, 12:00 to 2:00 PM, TLC LB3231C
Part 2 of a 4 - Part Summer Angel Training Series
Facilitators Tom Braziunas, Carol Howe, Coryl Celene-Martel & Chris Sanders
This second hands-on workshop will provide an introduction to the versatile communication tools in the ANGEL learning management system (as well as a review of how to create and utilize an online assignment “drop box”). We will explore how to create discussion rooms in ANGEL and how they can be effectively used to bring classroom interaction to an online class or to supplement an on-campus class with options to continue time-limited campus class communications into more expanded discussions online. Possible rubrics for assessment of student participation will be presented. We will cover how to manage student rosters, student teams and peer review.
Wednesday, June 24, 12:00 to 2:00 PM, TLC LB3231C
Part 3 of a 4 - Part Summer Angel Training Series
Facilitators Tom Braziunas, Carol Howe, Coryl Celene-Martel & Chris Sanders
This third hands-on workshop will provide an introduction to the use of quizzes and other assessment tools in the ANGEL learning management system. Included will be practice with effectively designing and using an online grade book and calendar to keep students informed of their progress. Addressed as well will be how to create individualized online exams through randomization of questions and use of question pools. Shortcuts to building question banks and leveraging a personal “repository” to streamline the management of multiple course sections will be covered too.
Thursday, June 25, 12:00 to 2:00 PM, TLC LB3231C
Part 4 of a 4 - Part Summer Angel Training Series
Facilitators Tom Braziunas, Carol Howe, Coryl Celene-Martel & Chris Sanders
This fourth and last hands-on workshop will “round out” the educational applications of the ANGEL learning management system with some practical expediencies. How to back-up a course to preserve student data as part of an end-of-term process and how to prepare a new section of an online course as part of a routine start-of-term instructor checklist will be covered. Use of an instructor’s personal “ Learning Object Repository” to simplify the course revising process as well as to help “map out” course design and structure will be introduced. Importantly, “ closing the assessment loop” can be expedited using essential learning outcomes and course objectives conveniently accessible in ANGEL. Finally, the use of “automated agents” to create learning pathways for students and to help keep in touch with students will be touched upon.
