North Campus Surge Pond

The North Seattle Community College Sustainability Committee was proposed by Dr. Ron LaFayette in early 2005 to organize and focus our college's response to environmental and sustainability issues. The “green” nature of the remodel and renovation of our facilities and future building projects as per the LEED requirement, recycling on our campus and relating sustainability to our curriculum, will all be part of the discussion work of this advisory group of faculty, students, and staff in bringing our college together around protecting and sustaining our environment.

While several activities, mainly around Earth Day in April, have been carried out, the committee is still in the process of forming and will finalize its membership when regular meetings begin in Fall 2005.  Pete Lortz, Biology faculty, is the lead person for this committee, which expects to include members from all campus groups, including facilities, students, staff, administrators, and faculty.  If you would like to participate on this committee, please contact Pete at 528-4516 or plortz@sccd.ctc.edu.
