CCE 159 Behavior Management

This course was amazing! It's made the greatest impact on my teaching abilities. I've made off with a number of valuable tools. I had no idea there were so many ways to manage behaviors.

—Michelle Doutré , Early Childhood Teacher

This class shows you how to cut to the chase when dealing with undesirable behaviors. This allows people, the children and yourself, to bloom. It eliminates the noise.

—Holly Koehler, Early Childhood Teacher

This class affected me in a very positive way. When dealing with problems, it gives me a whole new and effective way of handing the situation. I look forward to a more calming classroom because of this class. I recommend taking this class because it opens up effective ways of dealing with problems. I am a better teacher and will be a better parent because of this awesome class.

— Jackie Roling, Early Childhood Teacher

This course set me in a completely different direction as far as how I want to affect my students. I am always going over the previous material from all my classes I have taken at North Seattle, and it never fails to amaze me how much I still need to learn, or grow, and how much I still don't know! Every time I get complacent, a new idea kicks me in the butt and gets me moving onward toward my desired goal--to be like my 1st grade teacher Mrs. Johnson.

I have already requested to my director that this course should be mandatory. I've also recommended it to a few of my children's parents as well. This class changed me and I didn't even do all the correct steps! This class was difficult for me mostly because it was so simple in its truth --be present.

— Glorie Melendez, Early Childhood Teacher

This is a hands-on class. We used the class material and practiced the ideas and concepts right away. This was, a very effective method of learning. Bouncing ideas off my classmates during class time was very profitable and productive. It not only helped crystallize and clarify the ideas in my mind, it also abled me to help other students in the class in their understanding. Support and friendships were forged during these discussions.

The projects were openers and liberators for me. As I grappled and reflected on each project, I was stretched and challenged in new ways of thinking and being. I have learned and will continue to learn how to alter my behavior and the behavior of those who are in my life both professionally and personally. I have been given a gift. I look forward to being able to pass this same gift on to others.

Tom Drummond's manner and methods were disarming. I have never had a professor who was willing to be so guileless. It never ceased to amaze me.

To others I would say, take the class. It will change your life. It is one of the most valuable 4-credit courses I have ever taken.

— Ruth Holterman, Certified Teacher
